
Cosette Lemelin, PhD

Cosette has 20+ years of experience in faculty, sessional instructor, educational developer, and leadership roles within the U15 Canada. Her Master of Education (2003) and a PhD in Education (2016) focused on adult and post-secondary education, specifically, teaching and learning within health professions education. Cosette is the 2019 recipient of the University of Alberta Excellence in Learning Support Award and received the award again in 2020, along with the CTL Team, as part of their COVID-19 Response. She serves as the Chair of the Educational Developer Network of Alberta (EDNA), a Board Member for the Legal Education Society of Alberta (LESA), and a Member of the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) Canada Executive.

Mabyn Grinde, B.A./B.Ed., M.Ed.

Mabyn Grinde supports teaching and learning on both the Vermilion and Lloydminster campuses of Lakeland College. With 20 years of teaching and learning experience, Mabyn is passionate about rural education access, supporting instructors in all facets of their craft, quality program and curriculum design and of course having fun. Mabyn holds a B.A./ B.Ed. from the University of Lethbridge and a M.Ed. in Leadership from the University of Calgary. Mabyn is a creator, a collaborator, and a connector and is looking forward to supporting the diverse network of educational developers across Alberta.

Annemarieke Hoekstra, PhD

Annemarieke is an Educational Developer at NAIT and leads NAIT’s courses for instructors on best practices in instruction. She is passionate about supporting instructors’ workplace learning, inclusive classroom practices, removing barriers to learning, and teaching diverse groups of students. Prior to becoming an Educational Developer, Annemarieke was an Instructor and SoTL consultant at NAIT. She holds a Master of Arts in Dutch Language and Culture, with specializations in Intercultural Communication and Applied Linguistics. She also holds a PhD in Education with a focus on Informal Teacher Learning in the Workplace. Currently, her scholarly work focuses on instructor professional learning in Vocational and Professional Education.

As Teaching Development Facilitator, my responsibilities are to assist with the planning and development of pedagogical strategies and supporting faculty with the tools needed to enhance teaching and learning. I also facilitate professional development sessions for new instructors and graduate students committed to developing pedagogical competencies, to provide meaningful academic learning experiences for our students. I am particularly interested in the use of technology in the classroom and social media applications to build community, and enhance student engagement in their learning process, while fostering a sense of belonging. I have had the pleasure of teaching at the UofL for many years and I also supervise overseas graduate students in second language teaching practicums. My educational background includes a Master of Education from the University of Barcelona and a Bachelor of Health Sciences from the University of Lethbridge.

Jeff Kuntz, PhD

Educational Developer in Applied Research, NorQuest College
Jeff Kuntz has a Ph.D. in Secondary Education (Instructional Leadership). Jeff is an Applied Research Educational Developer at NorQuest College. He is currently involved in designing and rolling out a faculty-wide Applied Research Initiative to encourage the integration of research planning and projects into coursework and curricula. This initiative provides students with valuable opportunities to learn and participate in practical, real-world research. Jeff is also the NorQuest lead in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL). Jeff’s research at this time focuses on the impact of Generative Artificial Intelligence upon teaching and learning.
