Reimagining Learning: Transforming Teaching Together Showcase

From May 6 – 8, SAIT will be hosting the Reimagining Learning: Transforming Teaching Together showcase, which is a conference-style event focused on highlighting innovation, best-practices and distinction in teaching, learning, research and scholarly activity.

This year’s event will spotlight the excellent work in teaching and learning happening at SAIT. The focus of our showcase is community, connection and faculty engagement.

Proposal applications are now open! We are thrilled to be a part of this initiative, and we hope to hear from you. The proposal deadline is March 31.

EDNA Fall 2024 Meeting & Workshop – Thank you!

From the desk of Cosette:

Dear Colleagues,

Thank you to those of you who attended the EDNA Fall Meeting this past Friday. I wish to recognize Annemarieke Hoekstra from the EDNA Steering Committee for her leadership in facilitating our meeting. Change and transition were the common themes across our institutions which, to me, underscores the need to share ideas, experiences, and strategies across our Ed Developer network. Let’s help each other!

Thank you to Christopher for working with me on the Setting Boundaries as an Educational Developer: Your Well-Being Matters workshop following the EDNA Fall Meeting. I hope you enjoyed the opportunity to mingle with our Council of Ontario Educational Developers (COED) and reflect on your own needs as Educational Developers.

I am grateful for your kind messages and feedback on the Setting Boundaries session. As a parting thought after reading the feedback, I’ve learned to set boundaries by inches. While some may find that big sweeping changes or declarations feel right, I’ve practiced tiny moments of boundary setting (for example, one politely declined request per day or choosing to negotiate a deadline) and found that these tiny boundary experiments are improving my health and wellbeing.

I wish you well in your own experiments. Christopher and I are rooting for you!

Hope to see you at Lunch with EDNA and the EDNA Spring Meeting at SAIT in Calgary (more news to follow).

Shared resources page on our EDNA website

Hello EDNA Colleagues,

At our Fall meeting on November 3rd, 2023, we discussed having the various public-facing instructor focused resources from our respective institutions linked on one page of the EDNA website Shared Resources page as a kind of repository of resource development in Educational Development in Alberta.

That way, when you are preparing or designing teaching development resources at your institution, you can efficiently review, harness, or adapt the work done by EDNA Members on the same topic.

For example, at the U of A CTL, their Support for Teaching page that is organized by various stages of the course design and delivery process. If you scroll down a bit, there is also an entry point to a Teaching in the Context of AI resource site. These links could serve as a starting point for exploring resources on course design or AI, for instance.

If you would like to share the link(s) to your public-facing instructor focused resources at your institution for this purpose, follow the instructions on the Shared Resources page to fill out the Google form.

If you have questions, please contact Andrea Wetmore directly (awetmore@nait.ca) on the EDNA WebTeam. Andrea will notify you when this page on the EDNA Website is ready.

Thank you for your time,

Cosette Lemelin

Chair, Educational Developer Network of Alberta (EDNA)
